Cost-sharing grant for tourism businesses investing in energy efficiency and sustainable resource management.
GTIP supports registered tourism enterprises investing in energy efficiency, water management, and sustainable resource practices. It's a 50% cost-sharing grant — the business funds half, the Department of Tourism funds half (up to the cap).
The programme is specifically for tourism businesses: accommodation, restaurants, conference facilities, game lodges, and similar. The qualifying investment must be in solar, energy efficiency, water recycling, or similar sustainable infrastructure — not general tourism development.
Contextual Fit · Business Substance · Use of Funds Logic
Tourism enterprise registration, CIPC registration, SARS tax clearance, detailed quote for the qualifying green investment, proof of ability to co-fund 50%, and a baseline measurement of current energy/water usage for comparison.
Apply through the Department of Tourism before making the qualifying investment — pre-approval is required. Retrospective applications are not accepted.
Apply at tourism.gov.za or contact the Department of Tourism's enterprise development unit.
